I introduced the IE Alert jQuery plugin a few months ago since then it was downloaded more than 1390 times and it was featured on many websites and blogs, even Smashing Magazine tweeted about it once. It’s a huge success for me and I’m really happy that some websites already using it. The second version I tried to make even better, faster and better looking.
What is IE Alert ?
IE Alert is a jQuery plugin that shows a well designed modal box to the visitor who’s trying to view your site with an older version of Internet Explorer browser, this modal box encourages your visitors to upgrade their browser for a better experience using your site.
When should I use it?
You should use it when you created a stunning modern website that looks and works amazing in modern browsers and you don’t want to waste your time and money to make it work on legacy browsers like IE6, IE7 and IE8.
What’s new in version 2 ?
Probably the biggest thing what’s changed is the design, it’s slick, modern, creates more space for the new features and adds more flexibility to the plugin. Another big change is that now the visitors can “only” choose from one browser, the decision behind this is I think it’s less confusing for the visitor to choose from one alternative. I’m really happy that I managed to reduce the overall file size up to 50% and improved the performance a bit.
